DIY Tassel Earrings
These DIY Tassel Earrings are bold enough to be worn alone, no necklace required. They have a little bit of sparkle and a lot of tassel to give a minimal outfit a bit of boho chic.
You will need:
- 2 Upholstery tassels
- 5 inches of rhinestone trim
- 2 Earring hooks
- 2 Jump rings
- Aileens Jewel-it glue
- Needle and Thread
- Sharpie
Instructions:
1. Measure your rhinestone trim by wrapping it around the top of your tassels and cut 2 pieces. Make sure your trim ends butt up against each other; try to keep them from over lapping, you don't want them to stick out.
2. Take your tassels and your glue and put the glue all the way around the top of the tassel, where you will be attaching your rhinestone trim. Follow the instructions on the glue, depending on the type of rhinestone trim you are using, you many need to let the glue sit for 10 minutes before placing your trim.
3. Place your rhinestone trim around the top of your tassels pressing it into the glue and hold it in place with your fingers.
4. Using your needle and thread, sew the ends of your rhinestone trim together and also run your thread through your trim and the top of your tassel a few times as an extra way to hold the trim.
5. If you have a top loop on your tassel, you can fold it over and glue it down.
6. Add your jump rings and your earring hooks to the top of your tassels.
7. Working on top of a paper towel (I recommend using the two pieces), take your sharpie and your tassels and color the bottom half of your tassels.
NOTE: The sharpies tend to be a bit stinky, so work in a well ventilated area. I also recommend hanging your earrings by an open window at leas over night to help get rid of the smell.
