Welcome to our website !

Knowing what to sub in for your regular products will ensure any beauty emergency is resolved with minimal anxiety. Here are some quick beauty substitutes that will be there for you in your time of need ....

Don' have: shaving cream?   Try: hair conditioner
The conditioner helps soften hair and is jam-packed with hydrating ingredients, leaving your skin smooth post-shave.

Don't have: blush?   Try: lipstick
Blend onto the cheeks just as you would a cream blush. Just remember to opt for light shades, such as pinks and oranges, which will work well on the cheeks.

Don't have: makeup remover?   Try: lip balm
Wipe clear balm over your eyelids and onto the upper lashes, then wash off with a damp cotton bub or cloth. The oils and emollients in the balm will help break down mascara and eye makeup.

Don't have: acne treatment?   Try: tea tree oil or toothpaste
With its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, tea tree oil will penetrate the skin to unblock the sebaceous glands, drying out the blemishes. Use a cotton tip to put the oil on the affected area.
Toothpaste contains ingredients such as baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, menthol and essential oils, which all cause pimples to dry out. Unlike tea-tree oil, it doesn't contain any ingredients that are more effective than conventional treatments, so save toothpaste for those one-off occasions.

Don't have: night cream?   Try: eye cream
Eye creams are often high-potent ointments meant to reduce wrinkles and hydrate the eye area, making them a perfect substitute for a night cream. Be sure to use it sparingly as the active ingredients can cause a negative reaction to your skin.

Don't have: cleanser?   Try: olive oil
Place a warm cloth on the face for about 20 seconds, remove and massage in the oil. After 30 seconds use the cloth to wipe the oil away. It'll work wonders to dissolve and remove dirt from the skin's surface.
While it's fine to use food-grade oils to clean your skin, it's better to go for the cold-pressed varieties and to avoid processed oils like canola or vegetable.

Don't have: eyebrow gel?   Try: Paw Paw ointment
A light tap along your brows will help hairs stay in place.

Don't have: dry shampoo?   Try: talcum powder
Sprinkle the powder onto the roots then brush through. The powder will soak up the oil and give locks an extra dose of texture.

Don't have: toner?   Try: apple cider vinegar
Made from fermented apples, the vinegar helps skin find the ideal balance between dry and oily.

Don't have: liquid eyeliner?   Try: mascara
Dab a small amount of mascara onto a cotton tip or brush. Then line the eyelids as you would a liner.

This DIY makeup remover is my new favorite thing - it leaves my skin make up free and nice and soft. No breakouts, no oiliness, no mascara smudges. It feels so nice and I don't even have to use a moisturizer afterwards....

Ingredients:
  • witch hazel - alcohol free is best, especially for sensitive skin
  • jojoba oil
  • filtered/distilled water (this will significantly increase the life of the makeup remover by reducing the bacteria present in tap water)
  • bottle to put in product

Method:

Combine all the ingredients; you want equal amounts of witch hazel, oil and water in the mix. I used about two tablespoons of each.

To use, shake the bottle and apply a small amount to a cotton pad or ball. I like to press it into my lash line to saturate the lashes and then wipe gently.

NOTE: make sure to never touch the mouth of the bottle with dirty hands or used cotton - you don't want any nasties to get in there!

Usually, I find myself shelling out a pretty penny in order to spring for these all natural minty lip balms to soothe my troubled smoochers. But, this year I decided to make my own. I'm not sure I'll ever buy the stuff again. Yes, it's that easy.

Make approximately 255-gram lip balm pots

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons white beeswax pellets
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 6 tablespoons sweet almond oil
  • 6 to 10 drops peppermint essential oil

Materials:

  • 25+ lip gloss containers
  • Pint-sized mason joar
  • Jar lifter
  • Pot of boiling water
  • A disposable chopstick for stirring the gloss

Fill a medium sauce pot halfway up with water and set it on the stove to boil. You don't want to use a pot that is too deep, as you want the mason jar to be able to sit in the water without getting any water inside of the jar.

Add the beeswax, coconut oil and almond oil to the mason jar. Once the pot of water is boiling, use your jar lifter to set the mason jar down so it's sitting inside the boiling water. As the jar heats up, the ingredients inside the jar will melt. Use your chopstick to stir everything together. Once the mixture is clear and melted, use your jar lifter to remove it from the heat. Stir in the peppermint essential oil with your chopstick.

Open all of your containers and lay them right side up on some paper towels. Set the lids aside. Once you are able to handle your jar without scalding yourself (I still recommend using an oven glove), pout the liquid balm evenly into the containers.

When the lip balm has cooled it will become solid. At this point, it's ready for use, and you can screw the lids back on.

Julie Morgan, a top celebrity makeup artist, shares DIY tips to brides on how to create the perfect dramatic eye for an evening wedding.

The first step in creating a dramatic eye is to use an eyeliner above your lashes, then set it with a deep toned powder. Morgan recommends a gel eyeliner to increase wear and longevity.

Next, Morgan applies individual lashes and nestles them in to make them appear as your own. After eyeliner is set, apply a medium eye shadow across the lid and into the crease of your eye. Morgan recommends a warm matter shadow similar to the color of your hair for a dramatic smokey effect.

Next apply eyeliner to the underneath lashes, blending it out with the powder.

Finally, use mascara to blend your eyelashes starting from the base. As a final touch, use the warm color from the crease and blend in through lower lash line to create a warm look to your dramatic eye ....
