Remedies for brittle nails do not have to come in pretty-looking bottles or cost a fortune to work wonders. We can make them at home, save cash, have some creative fun, and even expect our home remedies for brittle nails to have some lasting results which, unfortunately, can't be said for some of those popular, well-advertised products.

Olive Oil & Lemon Juice

A teaspoon of olive oil mixed with a few drops of lemon used at least two times a week, will help you transform your brittle, easy to chip nails. Massage it into your nails thoroughly, let it soak in, then slip soft manicure gloves on and let the mixture work its magic overnight.

Lemon Juice

Squeeze the juice out, dip a cotton pad in it, then swipe each nail. Continue to massage the leftover juice in, let it dry on your nails, then rinse your hands in lukewarm water.

Herbal Mask

Pour a cup of boiling water over a teaspoon each of chamomile and peppermint tea, let them steep for an hour and a half, then strain the herbs away and mix in half a teaspoon of olive oil and two tablespoons of wheat flour. Blend well, apply to your nails, let it sit for a half an hour, then rinse off.

Vaseline

Simply smear some Vaseline on your nails once a day, just like you put lotion on your skin every day, to moisturize brittle nails.

Egg Yolks & Milk

Create a mixture of egg yolks and milk, massage it onto your nails, and rinse. Over time, this combination will fill your nails with moisture until they are strong and healthy.

Coconut Oil

Slightly warm some coconut oil and apply it on each nail. Massage gently and thoroughly for five minutes. This will improve blood circulation and keep the nails moisturized. Follow this remedy two to three times daily.

Baking Soda & Lemon

Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with a couple of squirts of lemon juice and rub mixture on your nails. Leave for about 10 minutes, and rinse off with warm water.

Olive Oil & Honey

Combine 1 teaspoon of olive oil and one teaspoon of honey and massage the mixture onto your fingertips. Wait for at least 10 minutes before washing off.

Egg Yolk, Honey & Water

Mix one egg yolk, one teaspoon of honey and one tablespoon of water and slather it on for about 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water. This mixture can go on your fingers and will protect your cuticles against bacteria.
